1. Atlantic Road, Norway

The Atlantic Road in Norway is a 5-mile section of County Road 64. It passes over water as it connects the island of Averoy, the mainland, and the Romsdal Shavoya. This amazing and unique road is an architectural marvel.

The Klausenrennen race takes place on this long and winding road every four years. The hour-long journey connects Altdorf and Glarus while offering a beautiful scenery. You also get a chance to see the fabled Swiss mountains.

The Alpine Road is the translation of Alpenstrasse in the English Language. Traveling along the Athenian Riviera is cheap while offering scenic views as well. It may not match the glamorous French Riviera, but it has its own strengths as well. It passes through the Attic peninsula as you head north to Mycenae and up to Olympia if you desire before looping back to the Greek Capital.

On this 12-mile pass, your driving skills will be challenged as you navigate tight turns and very tough corners. Do not attempt this drive if you are not an experienced driver. From its vantage point, you can see so many scenic landmarks to photograph.

This road featured in Goldfinger, a famous James Bond film. The continuous hairpin bends will really test your nerves as you drive along. Extra care should be taken if you drive along this road at night as well as when snow or rain falls.

24. Route Napoleon, France

The world-famous Napoleon Bonaparte took this route as he traveled from Elba to Grenoble in the year 1815. It is a route which connects Golfe-Juan and Grenoble as it runs through the French Alps. The road is famous because he took it on horseback in his quest to overthrow King Louis XVIII.

25. Transfagarasan Highway (DN7C), Romania

This road meanders from the village of Bascov to the crossroads between DN1 and Sibiu. It was originally constructed in 1974 as a 56-mile military road. Attractions on this route include Vlad the Impaler’s home, Poienari fortress among others.
